That leaves Park, J.A. Happ, Kyle Kendrick and Carlos Carrasco as candidates for the fifth spot in the rotation. Or, if Park goes to the bullpen, it gives manager Charlie Manuel the reliever capable of pitching multiple innings whom he's been seeking.
Park, 35, isn't expected to take his physical until January, so that situation remains in limbo. For now, Amaro declined to speculate on how he'll be used.
"Our scouts really liked Park, the fact that he's versatile and durable. He's starting to get closer to the form he showed several years back. As far as his role is concerned, we can discuss that once his deal is finalized," he said.

The Phillies also have come to terms with former Dodgers pitcher Chan Ho-Park on a one-year agreement. Pending a physical in Philadelphia, Park will sign for $2.5 million, a reasonable price for a reliable long reliever/starter. Park went 4-4 in 54 games with Los Angeles, starting five games last year. It would seem that the bullpen is the ultimate destination for the 35-year old righty, but Park has be quoted as saying the Phillies “considered him as a starter”, which is why he chose to come here.
For the rotation, why not take a shot at Ben Sheets or Randy Wolf. Sheets may come at a big of a steeper price (maybe in the two-year, $30 million range) but if he can stay healthy, it would be a bargain for one of the most talented pitchers in all of baseball. Wolf would likely require a one-year contract, but he knows the city after pitching here for eight seasons.

The Phillies' starting rotation is going to be a bit older for the next two years.
And that's not necessarily a bad thing.
On Monday, Philadelphia agreed to terms on a two-year contract with veteran left-hander Jamie Moyer, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. announced in a press release.
The signing comes just hours after the Phillies signed free agent right-hander Chan Ho Park, who could be a spot starter in 2009, to a tentative agreement.
After filing for free agency in early November, the Phillies and 46-year-old Moyer were reportedly frustrated with negotiations. But late last week, SI.com reported that Philadelphia stayed late in the Winter Meetings not only to sign outfielder Raul Ibanez, but to try to iron out a contract to bring the 22-year Major League veteran back.
In his second full season with the Phillies, Moyer went 16-7 with a 3.71 ERA -- his best mark since 2003, with the Mariners -- in 33 starts. Moyer hasn't started fewer than 32 games in a season since 2000, with Seattle. He allowed three runs or fewer in 14 straight starts, from June 6-Aug. 21, becoming the first Phillies pitcher to do so since 1967.
"Jamie's going to do what he can to play out this contract and be an effective pitcher for us," Amaro Jr. said. "And if you ask Jamie, I would imagine he thinks he's going to play out many more contracts beyond it."
With Moyer's return, Philadelphia has four spots in the starting rotation locked up -- Cole Hamels, Brett Myers, Joe Blanton and Moyer. The fifth spot is likely to be decided between J.A. Happ, Kyle Kendrick, Carlos Carrasco and Park.

The Phillies might view Park as a starter, the source said, although the 35-year-old right-hander made only five starts last season in 54 appearances. He was 4-4 with 79 strikeouts and a 3.40 ERA in 95 1/3 innings, mostly as a setup man.
Philadelphia has a strong bullpen, with right-handers Chad Durbin and Ryan Madson setting up closer Brad Lidge. However, the Phillies need a fifth starter if they don’t re-sign left-hander Jamie Moyer. Another Phillies pitcher, Kyle Kendrick, has been mentioned in the three- or four-team trade that would send Jake Peavy from the San Diego Padres to the Chicago Cubs.
Park has been a starter for most of his 13-year career but hasn’t been especially effective in that role since 2001.

Ramirez leaves a big gap in the 'pen. He worked 71 2/3 innings in 71 games and posted a 2.46 ERA with a 3-2 record, a save and 70 strikeouts. He wasn't acquired until last Spring Training in a swap that eventually sent starter Jorge De La Rosa to the Colorado Rockies. Ramirez was a sleeper who awoke to his full potential.
Nunez's best work came early in the season, giving up runs in just one of his first 20 appearances. Then a strained right lat cost him nearly two months and he wasn't the same afterward, although he finished strong. In 45 games, he posted a 4-1 record with a 2.98 ERA.
The free-agent market includes some right-handed relievers who might pique the Royals' interest, such as Juan Cruz, Brandon Lyon, David Weathers, Doug Brocail, Chan Ho Park, Bobby Howry and Kyle Farnsworth, among others.
Two of the items on the Royals' offseason wish list seemingly have been filled.

다저스가 FA 3명만 연봉조정 신청을 했다. FA 14명 중 박찬호를 비롯한 11명은 구단으로부터 연봉조정 신청도 받지 못했다. Manny Ramirez, Derek Lowe, Casey Blake는 이달 7일 9시까지 연봉조정 신청을 받아 들일지를 결졍해야 한다.
Manny Ramirez, Derek Lowe는 Type A로 분류되기 때문에 다른 구단과 계약하게 되면 다저스는 각 선수가 계약하는 구단으로부터 first-round pick과 supplemental pick을 각각 받을 수 있게 되었다. Casey Blake는 Type B로 분류되어 다른 구단과 계약시 supplemental pick을 보상받을 수 있다. 같은 Type B로 분류된 Joe Beimel, Jeff Kent, Greg Maddux에게는 연봉조정 신청하지 않았다.
드래프트 pick 보상이 없는 등급으로 분류된 박찬호에게 다저스가 굳이 연봉조정 신청을 할리는 없었을 것이다. 사실상 다저스 구단이 결별을 선언한 셈이다. 이제 박찬호는 다저스와 협상은 할 수는 있지만 다른 구단을 알아봐야 하는 수 밖에 없을 것 같다.

LOS ANGELES -- The National League West Division Champion Los Angeles Dodgers today have offered salary arbitration to outfielder Manny Ramirez, starting pitcher Derek Lowe, and infielder Casey Blake. General Manager Ned Colletti made the announcement.
The three players have until 9:00 p.m. PST on December 7 to accept the offer and doing so would ensure their spot on the 2009 roster. As "Type A" free agents, if Ramirez and Lowe do not accept arbitration and choose to sign with another team, the Dodgers will receive two draft picks apiece from that club. Blake, a "Type B" free agent, would net the Dodgers a supplemental draft pick if he elects to sign elsewhere.
The Dodgers did not offer arbitration to the following free agents: Joe Beimel, Gary Bennett, Rafael Furcal, Nomar Garciaparra, Jason Johnson, Jeff Kent, Greg Maddux, Pablo Ozuna, Chan Ho Park, Brad Penny, and Mark Sweeney.

The 35-year-old Park revived a career that began with the Dodgers in 1994. After pitching in only one Major League game in 2007, he made 54 appearances for the Dodgers in 2008, which included five starts. He went 4-4 with a 3.40 ERA and two saves in 95 1/3 innings.
Park has made it clear that he would prefer to start.
Park is the ninth Dodgers player to file for free agency, joining Manny Ramirez, Derek Lowe, Greg Maddux, Casey Blake, Joe Beimel, Nomar Garciaparra, Jason Johnson and Mark Sweeney. Still eligible but not filed are Rafael Furcal, Jeff Kent and Pablo Ozuna. If the Dodgers don't exercise options, Brad Penny and Gary Bennett also would be eligible to file.

Chan Ho Park: What began as the biggest resurfacing since Elvis sightings were the rage eventually evolved into the lowly expectations upon a return from the scrap heap. After notching a 2.63 ERA before the All-Star break, Park more than doubled it during August and September, 24.2 innings that produced 17 earned runs and countless cringes each time his number was called. Great story while it lasted, but Park's a free agent, and I don't expect the Blue gambling on a third time charm. Final Grade: C

올시즌 54경기 등판하여 4승4패 방어율 3.40을 기록하여 비교적 준수한 성적을 거두었지만, 8월에 14경기 등판 1패 1세이브 방어율 6.00, 9월에 11경기 등판 1패 방어율 6.52를 기록하여 시즌 마지막 2달동안 부진했던 것이 부정적인 평가를 받는 것 같아 아쉽다.

mlb.com에 게제된 기사이다. NL 디비전 시리즈에 로우, 빌링슬리, 구로다가 1,2,3 게임의 선발로 마운드에 오른다. 4번째 게임 선발로는 매덕스나 3일 휴식을 하게되는 로우가 오를 것으로 전망했다. 다저스는 디비전 시리즈를 11명 투수진으로 운영하는데 불펜진에 매덕스, 커쇼를 비롯하여 박찬호도 포함되었다.
최근 4경기에서 연속 실점하는 다소 부진한 모습을 보였지만, 박찬호는 불펜진으로 포스트시즌 로스터에 합류했다. 현지시간 10월1일부터 시작되는 시카고 컵스와 디비전 시리즈에서 좋은 활약을 기대한다.

Dodgers name three starters for NLDS
Game 1 hurler Lowe to be followed by Billingsley, Kuroda
SAN FRANCISCO -- Derek Lowe, Chad Billingsley and Hiroki Kuroda will pitch Games 1, 2 and 3, respectively, for the Dodgers in next week's best-of-five Division Series, manager Joe Torre announced Saturday.
Lowe was the Game 1 starter for the Dodgers in their 2006 Division Series against the Mets. He allowed four runs and two home runs to Carlos Delgado and Cliff Floyd in 5 1/3 innings, earning a no-decision in the Dodgers' 6-5 loss.
Rookie Clayton Kershaw will pitch out of the bullpen, said Torre, who was non-committal about a Game 4 starter or the role of 42-year-old Greg Maddux, Saturday night's starting pitcher. Asked if Saturday could be Maddux's last start for the Dodgers, Torre said:
"I hope not."
Game 4 could be started by Maddux or by Lowe on three days' rest, although Torre has said he's no fan of bringing back pitchers on short rest in October, which he did with little success while with the Yankees.
"A lot of those decisions are made as the series goes on," said Torre. "We have the option to do that. I'm not sure we're going to do that."
Nor is Torre even sure who the opponent will be, as scenarios still exist for the Dodgers to face the Cubs or Phillies. Regardless, it will be on the road. The Dodgers were 2-5 this year against the Cubs (0-3 at Wrigley Field) and 4-4 against the Phillies (0-4 at Citizens Bank Park).
Torre said he would likely go with an 11-man pitching staff, in part because Takashi Saito hasn't returned to 100 percent health after missing two months with an elbow injury. In that case, the bullpen could include Kershaw, Maddux, Jonathan Broxton, Saito, Cory Wade, Chan Ho Park, Joe Beimel and Scott Proctor.
However, Hong-Chih Kuo could find his way back into the picture. He's pitched only once in three weeks because of triceps tendon discomfort, but Kuo was scheduled to throw an inning Saturday night in a final exam. Kuo had become the setup man to Broxton when Saito was injured.
"He could be in the mix," Torre said of Kuo. "We have to make sure if he's healthy."
The 20-year-old Kershaw was beaming after getting the news that he'd make the postseason staff.
"Just being part of this is the thrill of a lifetime," Kershaw said. "I'll help them any way I can."
Kershaw has been primarily a starter in his brief career, pitching out of the bullpen twice this year while at Double-A Jacksonville. Those were extended appearances for a total of eight innings and the role change didn't seem to bother him any, as he allowed two hits, struck out six with one walk and no runs allowed.
