박찬호의 마지막 시험무대
박찬호가 오늘(3/30) 휴스턴 애스트로스 전에 스프링 캠프 마지막 등판을 한다. 박찬호에게는 매뉴얼감독이나 더비 투수코치에게 그가 왜 5선발이 되어야 하는지를 보여주는 마지막 기회가 될 것이다.
Chan Ho Park will make his final start of the spring today when the Phillies take on the Houston Astros. For Park it will be one final chance to show Charlie Manuel and Rich Dubee why he should be the team's fifth starter.
박찬호가 마지막 경쟁자인 J.A. 햅보다 실제로 어떤 면에서 더 앞서고 있는지를 보면 박찬호는 방어율 2.87를 기록하며 햅의 3.15보다 앞서 있다. 그리고 피홈런 수에서도 4개 대 1개로 적게 맞았다. 볼넷은 6개 대 1개로 덜 허용했으며 삼진은 18개 대 14개로 더 많이 잡았다. 이 기록은 공식 시범 경기(Grapefruit League)에서 4이닝을 적게 던지고 기록한 것이다.
For what it is worth Park has actually put up better numbers than his final competition for the job, JA Happ. Park has a better ERA (2.87 to Happ's 3.15), fewer home runs (one versus four), fewer walks (one versus six) and more strike outs (18 to 14) in almost four fewer innings of work in official Grapefruit League action.
만약 오늘 등판에서 좋은 결과를 기록한다면 5선발 결정이 스프링캠프 마지막주에 해야할 어려운 결정 중 하나가 될 것이다. 오늘 당장 (오늘 경기 전에) 결정을 하라고 한다면 박찬호에 손을 들어 줄 것이다.
With a solid outing today the decision will prove to be a difficult one in the final week of the season.
If I were to make the decision today (before today's exhibition game), I would give the nod to Park.

Manuel would like to see the team get some offense going again. The Phillies are in the midst of a four game skid. With opening night now less than a week away Manuel is starting to get a little anxious about the bats of his players.
