필리스, 박찬호 대신 바에즈 - Reliever Baez could be joining Phils

아무래도 필리스는 박찬호 대신 바에즈를 선택하나 봅니다. 박찬호는 다른 팀을 찾아봐야 할 듯 싶네요.

아마로 단장이 필리스가 크리스마스 이후 1~2주안에 불펜투수와 계약할 것이라고 지난 주말 밝혔다. 

에인절스와 2년 천백만불 계약에 합의한 Fernando Rodney는 아닐 것이다. 

또한  John Smoltz나 박찬호 그리고 Mike MacDougal는 아닐 것이다. 필리스는 Smoltz의 건강을 의심하고 있고, 마무리 Brad Lidge나 셋업맨 J.C. Romero가 팔꿈치 수술에서 회복하는 것을 제외하고는 불펜진에 이슈가 되지 않을 것이다.

필라델피아와 박찬호는 협상에 더 이상 진전이 없다. 아마로 단장은 박찬호의 복귀를 기대하지 않는다고 말했다.

필리스는 MacDougal에 관심을 갖었지만 심각한 협상은 없었던 것으로 믿어진다.

CSNPhilly.com은 수요일 필리스가 한 불펜투수와 계약에 이르렀고 신체검사만 남았다고 전했다.

마무리 경험이 있는 우완 Danys Baez가 좋은 선택이다. 이럴 경우 Lidge와 Romero가 내년 시즌 시작시 준비가 되지 않을 경우 대안이 된다.

Baez는 오리올즈에서 지난 시즌 59번 등판하여 4승 6패 방어율 4.02를 기록했다.

그는 또한 찰리 매뉴얼이 인디언스 감독이었던 2001-02 시즌에 매뉴얼 감독과 같이 했다. Baez는 8시즌 통산 인디언스, 레이스, 다저스, 브레브스, 오리올즈를 거치면서 35승 49패 114 세이브, 방어율 4.04를 기록하고 있다.

Reliever Baez could be joining Phils

Club reportedly agrees to deal with mystery pitcher

PHILADELPHIA -- General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said late last week that the Phillies probably would sign a reliever in a couple weeks, sometime after Christmas.

 

It will not be Fernando Rodney. There are reports he has agreed to a two-year, $11 million deal with the Angels.

It also is unlikely to be right-handers John Smoltz, Chan Ho Park and Mike MacDougal. The Phils have some concerns about Smoltz's durability, which might not be an issue except closer Brad Lidge and setup man J.C. Romero are recovering from elbow surgeries.

Philadelphia and Park appear to have reached a stalemate in negotiations. Amaro has said the club does not expect him back. The Phillies have expressed interest in MacDougal, but talks are not believed to be serious.

CSNPhilly.com reported Wednesday that the Phillies have reached an agreement with a reliever, pending a physical. 

A good bet is right-hander Danys Baez, who has closing experience. That is something the Phils might need if Lidge and Romero are not ready to start the season.

Baez went 4-6 with a 4.02 ERA in 59 appearances last season with the Orioles. 

He pitched for Charlie Manuel, when Manuel managed the Indians, in 2001-02. 

Baez is 35-49 with a 4.04 ERA and 114 saves in his eight-year career with the Indians, Rays, Dodgers, Braves and Orioles.
