박찬호, 다음 선발이 가능할까? - 박찬호 선발 제외 관련 여론

5/1일 메츠전에서 패한 이후 필리스 선발 로테이션을 조정해야 한다는 기사들이 올라오고 있다. 

이날 경기 후 매뉴얼 감독은 박찬호가 다음 경기에 나갈수 없을 것이라고 당장은 말하기 어렵다고 논평을 했지만, 필리스 선발 투수진이 전체적으로 성적이 좋지 않는 상황에서 투수진을 정비해야 한다는 여론은 거세질 전망이다.

Philly.com에 올라온 Park struggles again as Phillies fall to Mets 라는 기사 중 일부이다.

결국 매뉴얼 감독은 박찬호의 역할을 위기 수준까지 놓지는 않겠지만 필리스 투수진을 재평가 할 수도 있을 것이라고 말했다. 

"팀 투수진에 대해 (더비 코치와) 이야기 할 것이 몇가지 있다." "더비 투수코치와 나는 만나 대화를 나눌 것이다. 박찬호가 더 이상 선발로 나서지 않을 것이라고 당장은 말하지는 않겠다. 당장은 그렇게 말하지 않겠다."

Afterward, manager Charlie Manuel said the team would sit down and re-evaluate its pitching situation, although he would not go so far as to label Park's job in jeopardy.

"Our pitching is something we'll talk over," Manuel said. "Dubee and I will sit down and [talk] . . . I'm not ready to say Chan Ho Park is not going to get any more starts. I'm not ready to say that."

경기후 박찬호의 부진에 관심이 모아졌다.

After the game, though, the focus was on Park's struggles. 

"I think you have to show patience," Manuel said. "But I think our pitching definitely has to get better."

Manuel did give Park a strong vote of confidence. But he also said that no decisions have been made.

"As we go along, we'll make adjustments," Manuel said. "We'll do things we have to do to make it better.

다른 한편으로 박찬호는 수수께끼이다. 스프링 트레이닝 기간 동안 21 1/3이닝 동안 삼진 25개를 잡고 단지 두명에게만 볼넷을 내주어 선발자리를 차지한 투수에게 어떤 일이 일어난 것일까? 

Park, on the other hand, is an enigma. What happened to the guy who struck out 25 and walked just two hitters in 21 1/3 innings to win a spot in the rotation during spring training? 

매뉴얼 감독이나 필리스가 알고 싶어했던 그는 어디에 있는가? 4 2/3이닝 동안 볼넷 6개, 안타 8개로 7실점한 것은 말할 나위도 없고 가까운 시일내에 선발진 상태를 재점검해야 한다. 공황상태는 아니지만 매뉴얼감독이나 필리스로는 마지노선을 그어야 한다.

Where is he because Manuel and the Phillies would like to know? Needless to say the six walks and seven runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings from Park should provoke some reexamination regarding the look of the staff in the very near future. No, it's not time to panic, but Manuel and the Phils might need to draw a line in the sand somewhere.

lehighvalleylive.com의 Pitching problems mounting for Phillies 라는 제목의 기사이다. 기사를 올린 Nick Fierro는 마이어스와 박찬호를 J.A. 햅이나 마이너 투수로 교체해야 한다고 적고 있다.

지금 바로 마이어스와 박찬호를 로테이션에서 제외할 것을 제안한다. J.A 햅이나 마이너의 다른 투수로 교체해라. 이 둘 보다는 더 나쁘게 던지지는 않을 것이다.

Here's a suggestion: Get Myers and Park out of the rotation -- immediately, if not sooner, and hand the ball to either J.A. Happ or some accomplished Lehigh Valley IronPigs, who couldn't do worse in those spots if they tried.

the morningcall.com의 Keith Groller는 개인 블로그에 Five things learned from a Friday in Philly 라는 제목으로 글을 올리면서 5가지 중 4번째로 박찬호가 이제 가야할 시간이라고 언급했다. 

박찬호가 이제 떠나야 할 시간이다. 트리플A IronPigs 선수들이 잘하고 있고 프랜차이즈 역사상 처음으로 5할을 기록할 수 있을 것으로 안다. 그러나 카를로스 카라스코, 카일 켄드릭 심지어 드류 카펜터 조차도 박찬호 보다는 쓸모 없다고 말할 수는 없다. 박찬호는 스프링 캠프 이후 좋은 모습을 보인적이 없다. 또한 홈 경기에서 성적이 좋지 않으면 팬들은 원정경기에서 성적이 안 좋은 것 보다 더 나쁘게 생각한다. 필리스 홈 팬들은 관대한 편이 아니다.

It's time for Chan Ho Park to go. I know the IronPigs are playing well and could get to .500 for the first time in franchise history tonight (except for when they were 0-0 at the start the last two years, of course), but you can't tell me that Carlos Carrasco, Kyle Kendrick or even Drew Carpenter couldn't be a more serviceable starter than Mr. Park, who they tell me hasn't looked good since spring training. And you know when you pitch bad at home, the crowd makes it much worse than if you pitch poorly on the road. They're not exactly the most supportive types, those Philly fans.
