필리스 루벤 아마로 단장은 화요일 박찬호가 5선발 경쟁에서 Happ을 이겼다고 말했다. 아마로 단장이 Happ과 Gary Majewski, Jack Taschner, Bobby Mosebach 등 4명이 불펜의 남은 두자리를 놓고 경쟁하고 있다고 말했지만, Happ의 보직은 아직 결정되지 않았다.

Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said Tuesday that Chan Ho Park beat J.A. Happ for the fifth starter's job.

Happ's fate with the team has not been decided, although Amaro said Happ, Gary Majewski, Jack Taschner and Bobby Mosebach are comepting for two bullpen jobs.

한편 아마로 단장은 타이거즈에서 방출된 게리 쉐필드의 에이전트와 접촉했다고 했다. 화요일 아침 필리스는 지오프 젠킨스를 방출했었다.

Amaro also said the Phillies have contacted the agent for Gary Sheffield, whom the Tigers just released. Earlier in the day, the Phillies released Geoff Jenkins.

Happ은 Gary Majewski, Jack Taschner, Bobby Mosebach와 함께 불펜에 남아 있는 2자리를 놓고 경쟁하게 되었다. 그렇지 않다면 Happ은 (트리플A인) Lehigh Valley로 보내져 선발로 뛰게 될 것이다.

Happ now finds himself in the competition for one of two remaining bullpen spots, among Gary Majewski, Jack Taschner, and Bobby Mosebach. Otherwise, Happ could be sent to Lehigh Valley to stay in a starting rotation.

Happ이 Lehigh Valley의 선발로 남을 것으로 예상된다.

I predict Happ will remain at Lehigh Valley to remain in a starting rotation.

문제는 Happ이 아마도 Carlos Carrasco나  Kyle Kendric의 뒷 순서라는 것이다. Happ의 역할에 이제 안개가 낀 것처럼 보인다.

The problem there is Happ would find himself behind (likely) Carlos Carrasco and maybe Kyle Kendrick. Happ's role now appears foggy.

박찬호가 WBC에 참여하지 않고 선발 경쟁에 집중하는 모습들이 보상을 받은 것 같다. 기억하겠지만, WBC에 참여하지 않고 대표팀을 스스로 떠나야 한다는 것은 박찬호에게 매우 가슴아프고 힘든 결정이었다.

Looks as though Park's decision to skip the World Baseball Classic and concentrate on his starting skills paid off for him. If you remember, the decision was a tough one for Park, who was heartbroken to have to remove himself from the South Korea team.

그리고 아마로 단장은 오늘 아침 디트로이트 타이거즈에서 방출된 게리 쉐필드의 에이전트와 접촉했다고 또한 언급했다.

Amaro also mentioned that they had contacted the agent for Gary Sheffield, who was also released this morning by the Detroit Tigers.

쉐필드를 싼 가격에 계약할 수 있더라도 노장선수를 데려오는 결정을 필리스가 내리지 말았으면 한다.

I can't see the Phillies making a serious move for the veteran, despite the dirt cheap contract he would bring.

Park, who signed a $2.5-million one-year free-agent contract in January, appeared in five games this spring, posting a 2.53 ERA in 21.1 innings while allowing 20 hits, including a home run. He struck out 25 and walked just two.
