박찬호의 필리스와 계약관련 몇가지 현지 언론 보도 내용

박찬호선수가 필리스와 1년 계약한 것과 관련한 현지 언론의 보도 내용이다.

데일리뉴스 사이트인 philly.com에서는 Phillies give veteran pitcher Moyer 2-year deal 라는 제목의 기사에서 박찬호가 5선발 후보이고 선발로테이션에서 탈락하여 불펜으로 가게되더라도 매뉴얼 감독이 원하던 대로 멀티 이닝을 책임지는 릴리버 역할을 할 것으로 예상했다. 

박찬호선수가 내년 1월까지는 신체검사를 받지 않기 때문에 아직 불확실한 상황이고 현재까지 아마로 단장이 박찬호를 어떻게 활용할지에 대해 구체적인 언급을 하지 않았다고 했다..

"박찬호를 여러 용도로 사용할 수 있고 건강하기 때문에 팀 스카우터들이 좋아했다. 박찬호는 그가 몇년 전에 보여 주었던 모습에 가까워지기 시작했다. 현재 그의 역할이 관심을 끌고 있지만 계약이 마무리되면 다시 논의할 것이다."라는 아마로 단장의 말을 전하고 있다.

That leaves Park, J.A. Happ, Kyle Kendrick and Carlos Carrasco as candidates for the fifth spot in the rotation. Or, if Park goes to the bullpen, it gives manager Charlie Manuel the reliever capable of pitching multiple innings whom he's been seeking.

Park, 35, isn't expected to take his physical until January, so that situation remains in limbo. For now, Amaro declined to speculate on how he'll be used.

"Our scouts really liked Park, the fact that he's versatile and durable. He's starting to get closer to the form he showed several years back. As far as his role is concerned, we can discuss that once his deal is finalized," he said.

Examiner.com에 실린 Phillies re-sign Moyer for two years, ink Park for one 제목의 기사이다. 필리스가 박찬호와 2.5백만불에 계약한 것은 신뢰할만한 롱 릴리버나 선발로서 적절한 가격으로 평가하고 있다. 

그리고 선발 로테이션에 Ben Sheets 나 Randy Wolf을 왜 선택하지 않았을까를 언급하면서, Ben Sheets의 경우 2년 3천만불 정도로 몸 값이 많이 올라갈 것으로 보고 있으며 Randy Wolf는 1년 계약을 원할 것이지만 필라델피아에서 8시즌을 보냈기 때문에 그는 필라델피아 라는 도시를 알고 있다고 보고 있다. (Randy Wolf가 필라델피아를 알기 때문에 계약하지 않을 것이다 라는 의미로 보인다.)

The Phillies also have come to terms with former Dodgers pitcher Chan Ho-Park on a one-year agreement.  Pending a physical in Philadelphia, Park will sign for $2.5 million, a reasonable price for a reliable long reliever/starter.  Park went 4-4 in 54 games with Los Angeles, starting five games last year.  It would seem that the bullpen is the ultimate destination for the 35-year old righty, but Park has be quoted as saying the Phillies “considered him as a starter”, which is why he chose to come here. 

For the rotation, why not take a shot at Ben Sheets or Randy Wolf.  Sheets may come at a big of a steeper price (maybe in the two-year, $30 million range) but if he can stay healthy, it would be a bargain for one of the most talented pitchers in all of baseball.  Wolf would likely require a one-year contract, but he knows the city after pitching here for eight seasons.

Delawareonline.com의 Phillies get Park in their corner 라는 제목의 기사에서는 박찬호의 계약이 신체검사를 통과 여부에 달려있다는 루벤 아마로 주니어 단장의 말을 전하면서 1월 이전에 박찬호가 미국에 있을지는 확실치 않다고 적고 있다. 

필리스 구단은 아직 박찬호를 어떻게 활용할지에 대해 확실히 언급하지 않고 있으며 스프링 캠프에서 5선발로 경쟁하거나 찰리 매뉴얼 감독이 원하는 멀티 이닝 릴리버로서 불펜에 남을 수 있을 것으로 보고 있다.

But Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said a deal still hinges on Park passing a physical, and it's doubtful Park will be in the United States before January.

"Our scouts really like him," Amaro said. "They like the fact that he's versatile and durable. He really came back this year."

The Phillies aren't sure how they will use Park. He could compete in spring training with J.A. Happ, Carlos Carrasco, Kyle Kendrick and Drew Carpenter for the last spot in the starting rotation, or he could be the multiple-innings reliever that manager Charlie Manuel wants in the middle of the bullpen.

During their five-game National League Championship Series conquest, the Phillies scored late runs against most Los Angeles Dodgers relievers, from tough lefty Hong-Chih Kuo, to stingy setup man Cory Wade, to hard-throwing closer Jonathan Broxton.

But they couldn't solve veteran Chan Ho Park.

It was the final bit of evidence the Phillies needed that Park, 35, had enough left in his right arm to be a valuable member of a major-league pitching staff. Thus, on Monday they reached a tentative agreement with Park on a one-year contract worth at least $2.5 million, according to a report in the Korea Times.

현지 언론들은 대체적으로 박찬호선수가 스프링캠프에서 젊은 선수들과 5선발 자리를 다툴 것이고, 최소한 멀티이닝 릴리버 자리를 차지할 것으로 보고 있다.
