Dodgers add Park to depleted 'pen

다저스 구단이 수요일 저녁 경기후 박찬호선수를 메이저로 올리기로 결정했습니다. 박찬호선수는 트리플A 라스 베가스에서 아직 등판도 하지 않은 상태입니다. 

다저스는 시즌 시작 후 3게임을 치룬 상태이고 12번째 투수를 보강하기로 했습니다. 박찬호선수에게 자리를 내주기 위해  앙헬 차베스선수를 지명 할당하였습니다. 박찬호선수는 선발이나 구원 모두 가능하고 많은 이닝을 소화해 낼 수 있는 스윙맨 역할을 할 것 같습니다. 

박찬호선수(34살)는 1994년 다저스에서 메이저리그에 데뷰했고, 2001년 텍사스 레인저스와 6천만불 계약을 맺음으로써 LA를 떠났습니다. 박찬호선수는 통산 8천만불을 벌었지만 올해는 50만불 마이너리그 계약임에도 스프링캠프에서 선발투수 자리를 차지하려고 노력했습니다. 그만큼 부상과 싸웠던 지난 7년 이후 마침내 건강해졌다고 그가 믿었기 때문입니다.

스프링캠프에서 박찬호선수의 방어율은 2.41이었고 에스테반 로아이자의 4.50 방어율 보다 2실점을 덜했음에도 박찬호선수는 로아이자의 고액 계약 때문에 5선발 경쟁에서 밀려났다. 박찬호선수는 일주일 전 마이너리그에 보내졌고 목요일 트리플A 라스 베가스의 첫 경기에 선발 등판 예정이었다.

LOS ANGELES -- Chan Ho Park is a Dodger again, his contract purchased after Wednesday night's game before he ever made an appearance for Triple-A Las Vegas.

With the pitching staff already tired three games into the season, the Dodgers added a 12th pitcher and cleared space by designating infielder Angel Chavez for assignment. Park will give the Dodgers an innings-eating swingman capable of starting or relieving.

Park, 34, began his career with the Dodgers in 1994 and pitched in Los Angeles until leaving after the 2001 season to sign a $60 million contract with the Texas Rangers. Park has earned more than $80 million in his career, but he was willing to fight for a job this spring on a $500,000 Minor League contract because he believed he was finally healthy after several years battling injuries.

Esteban Loaiza and his guaranteed contract beat Park out for the fifth-starter spot, although Park's 2.41 ERA was more than two runs lower than Loaiza's 4.50 in Spring Training. Park was sent down over the weekend and was scheduled to pitch Opening Night for Las Vegas on Thursday.
